DNC Chair: Sorry Russ, Dems Are All-In On Anonymous Campaign Funds
MINNEAPOLIS -- Former Sen. Russ Feingold (D-WI) laid out a passionate case for Democrats to stay away from so-called Super PACs in his keynote address at the Netroots Nation conference Thursday night. On Friday afternoon, Democratic National Committee chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz made it clear members of her party will not be heeding his advice.

"Progressives shouldn't be unilaterally disarming," she told TPM.

3. I hate seeing good people simply left behind and forgotten like this.
Feingold will be remembered for his stands, but the way things are playing out is pretty grim and tragic.

4. Why don't we have Dean as chairman? He proved we can win.

5. The Obama administration completely
locked him out. COMPLETELY. Sadly, Dean has become a shadow of his former maverick self and has become a complete party loyalist. For example, he now sees no problem with Charter Schools.

6. Or...

Dean has always been a party loyalist, and the alternate reality you have created for yourself in which Dean was "locked out" by Obama is false.

Dean hasn't changed. And Obama never "locked him out". That's a theory your head came up with to rationalize your disappointment that Dean isn't who you thought he was.

7. Excuse me, but you need to limit
your debate to the issues at hand and avoid personal attacks in the process, as per DU rules.

14. My comment was about the post at hand and was not a personal attack

Commenting on your rationalizations about Howard Dean is not a personal attack.

8. I can see reason on both sides in this divide.
What do you do if the law is too permissive and allows a campaign tactic that should be illegal? Do you exploit the loophole, or do you stand on principle and thereby put yourself at a disadvantage?

I lean toward exploiting the loophole as long as it exists but vowing to close it for everyone as soon as the votes are available. Of course, pols once elected will have become addicted to the financing, so this pledge (even if sincere when made) may not be realistic.

No good answer, in my opinion.

at netroots nation.

They had a these great populist programs up on the overhead to show why we need to take 24 seats this round.

The thing is, it's simply not credible to claim you're going to rein in Wall Street or Big Oil or Big Anyone when Big Anyone is funding your election. The pitch doesn't work.
