Maybe Florida voters finally did something worthwhile!
New rules limit GOP's power over voter districts

Republicans have never had more political strength in Tallahassee going into a redistricting process as they do this year.

Yet a pair of constitutional amendments passed by voters in November to reduce gerrymandering threatens to undermine their power in what traditionally has been the most cherished spoils in all of politics.

And that is not sitting well with Republicans who thought they would have a lot more freedom in redrawing districts for Congress and the Legislature to assure future re-elections.

Bluntly, state Sen. Mike Bennett, R-Bradenton, told more than 250 people at a meeting in Sarasota on Thursday that voters got it wrong when they passed the amendments with more than 60 percent of the vote.

Maybe for once we can get fair districting and better representation than we have had in the recent past!

4. The problem is that as said in the article, the Republican legislature
Is not known for following the rules. So they might ignore the new rules, even though they are now part of our state constitution. And this year they HAVE to redistrict, with adding House seats and the shifts in population shown by the census, so if they decide not to follow the rules yet again, we will be stuck with whatever they want to stick us with. Unless of course, enough of us raise hell and file suit against our own government.

Maybe that would be a good fight for Alan Grayson to lead. If the redistricting is done properly, he could end up with an area that could re-elect him. And we sure as hell need people like that in Congress!

2. I love how they decided voters
got it wrong. I'd say it was one of the few things they got right.

something like if you don't like the people's will, elect a new people?
