Fox News Sunday Edits Out Jon Stewart's Criticism Of Fox Exec
Yesterday, Jon Stewart appeared on Fox News Sunday to discuss his sharp criticism of Fox News. But one uncomfortable reference to marching-order emails from a Fox News executive was cut from the program.

Speaking with host Chris Wallace, Stewart referenced emails from Fox News vice president and DC managing editor Bill Sammon to bolster his case that Fox News resembles "ideological regimes" who receive "marching orders." Stewart told Wallace that Fox News "reminds me of, you know -- you know, ideological regimes. They can't understand that there is free media other places. Because they receive marching orders." Stewart then said "and if you want me to go through Bill Sammon's emails" but was cut off by Wallace.

Stewart was referencing a series of leaked emails that Media Matters released showing Sammon slanting his bureau's reporting. In one email, Sammon ordered his news staff to cast doubt on established climate science. In another, Sammon directed staff not to use the phrase "public option," but instead the GOP-friendly "government option" and similar phrases. Sammon also sent emails highlighting "Obama's references to socialism, liberalism, Marxism and Marxists" in his 1995 autobiography and slanting Fox's coverage of President Obama's 2009 Cairo speech.

But viewers watching Fox News Sunday on-air wouldn't have heard Stewart's reference to Sammon because it didn't appear on air. Stewart's reference instead appears in the "unedited" interview that Fox News posted online.

2. Perhaps Chris will mention it?
He seemed to be chiding Jon about his slant when talking humor and politics.

7. can't imagine he won't. he made Wallace looked like disjointed, confused halfwit most of the time
CW's points were completely aimed at establishing two points:

1) stewart is a liberal operative

2) the rest of the media is part of a vast liberal conspiracy, including, apparently, Diane Sawyer (former Nixon aide), anyone who reports differently from the bastion of fairness and balance

very entertaining stuff, though

almost as good as when he got William Kristol to admit he didn't have to tell the truth because he was away from either DC or NYC

can't find that clip, but this one's very good, especially Kristol listing the 'achievements' of GWB; what a hoot

3. When reality disagrees with your world view
then reality must be wrong.

4. They talk about this in the Rolling Stone article
They DO get marching orders. The article had a cool flow chart pointing out the five talking points used in a typical day, and how they are repeated over and over and over throughout the day, direct orders from Roger Ailes.

12. one of the top highlights is when wallace shows a clip of lisa lampanelli
giving it to pam anderson about tommy lee's crank!

he's doing it to slam comedy central: "Not exactly masterpiece theater you're working for here." he's acting like ComCen is some sort of news agency, and that shows like the roasts, south park affect it's credibility!

simply astonishing

for a moment, Stewart seems unable to follow Wallace's insane train of thought...THAT's when he should have called him insane

15. That was my favorite part.
Comparing Comedy Central with Fox News? The major difference being one is a joke posing as a credible news agency and the other is Comedy Central.

14. In the End, Chris Wallace Proved Jon Stewart's Brilliant Point
that Fox News "reminds me of, you know -- you know, ideological regimes. They can't understand that there is free media other places. Because they receive marching orders."

Then Wallace promptly cuts off Jon.
