You mean no one thought to ask this woman where she received information about a bomb threat before halting flights?

i would have to guess that 60-70% of the articles I read either had poor or no editing.

Why can't this happen to some Politicians.. ? Or for that matter, some Right Wing Radio & TV talk show hosts...Fox News Hosts..

It lies with a system that seems to put the most pants-wettingest scaredy cats in charge of security measures, people whose sole metric is the chimera of zero tolerance. In pursuit of that mirage, our security system is designed to lend credence to crackpots while defying common sense under the rubric that you never really know, and you can't be too careful.

Well yes, you can be too careful; unless of course, the whole point of this exercise is to provide the appearance of security without actually enhancing security. The alternative, which is to change our ways of dealing with the rest of the world so that people aren't quite so inclined to blow us to pieces, is too horrible to contemplate. So, keep taking off your shoes, your belts, your hats, your jackets, your false teeth, your glass eye, your artificial hip, and whatever else poses a "threat" in the fevered imaginations of the smallest-minded persons you could ever hope to meet.

I agree that it might be silly to set off the alarm for every crank phone call - or to shut down an entire airport because some business fly-er skirted the security...

... but i think I want to hear about people presenting in person.


Maybe I watched the movie Airport too many times (and I'm a private pilot).
