GOPer’s Ad Depicts Chinese Army Marching On Capitol, Thanks To ‘Obama’s Debt Ceiling’ (VIDEO)
this is so sick...

Former Nevada state GOP chair Mark Amodei, who was selected this weekend as the party's nominee in the upcoming NV-02 special election, has a new ad out making the national debt his big issue -- with the specter of the Chinese army marching on Washington!

The ad shows a mock-up of a Chinese news broadcast in the near future, with an anchorwoman speaking while a separate English-language voiceover speaks in a heavy accent. "Once upon a time, America became its own worst enemy," the voiceover says. "When all their borrowed money ran out, they kept spending out of control. Their President Obama just kept raising the debt limit -- and their independence became a new dependence. As their debt grew, our fortune grew -- and that is how our great empire rose again."

1. Republicans need to catch up with the 21st century...
We used to fear Chinese commies marching down MainStreet, USA. Now we buy their products and services on MainStreet, USA.

And the Repubs have no problem with this.

I attended a townhall with my Representative, Kevin Yoder (R-KS, Third District), a couple of weeks ago. He was saying we had to eliminate Medicare in order to control costs and showed an graph of how our debt has been increasingly financed by China over the last couple of decades. He was attempting to shock us into believing we had to get rid of Medicare in order to use that money to escape the grip of the Chinese.

It was laughable: the Chinese own us because people like Yoder couldn't wait to exploit China's cheap labor market...

3. China holds about 8% of US total debt ($1.16T/$14.4T). It's hyperbole about China "owning us".

4. Will we see a media firestorm about this?
After all, when Move On sponsored a little contest, and one of the entries made a justifiable comparison between the Bush administration policies and certain tactics adopted by the Third Reich, whoa nelly! You'd have thought someone had called Bush Hitler. There was all kinds of harrumphing and public calls for the denunciation of Move On, despite that fact that Move On hadn't written the ad, took it down promptly when they became aware of it, and didn't endorse the sentiment (though it was perfectly true).

Here, we have a declared candidate producing an ad with some pretty objectionable content. The major difference being that Mr. Amodei is a Republican, and the rules of high dudgeon don't apply to Republicans. Apparently, everyone expects Republicans to act like assholes, so it's all right when they do.
