10. He did, in answer to John "Abe Simpson" McCain asking what Reagan would think of Libya today.
Olbermann: "Nothing. He's dead. He was a lousy president. And he helped keep Qadaffi in power."

I can picture your average FOX viewer accidentally tuning in to the opening of tonight's "Countdown with Keith Olbermann" on Current TV:

2. Reagan is not dead
Edited on Mon Jun-20-11 09:24 PM by Drale
His consciousness was transfered into an android, created by Disney, and now haunts the halls of the Republican National headquarters.

EDIT: He was a terrible President though, perhaps the the worst, at least in the top 5 worst.

33. If we only could have buried his policies along with him
But nooooo! The corporate Dems and the Republicans can't get it throught their heads that these failed policies don't work.

In 1986 the US killed the war crimes trial with the lone veto on the UN Security Council.

9. reagan was the worst president, i think, because he had such a profound negative impact
other presidents that rank high up there on the terrible list tended to have their impact limited to their own term, or slightly beyond it. hoover is a bit of an exception in the sense that he failed to address the great contraction adequately, and that obviously had an impact for many years after, but, while i'm not letting hoover off the hook entirely, the problem was far bigger than him, and it wasn't just his own ineptness but the ineptness that was washington power at the time that prevented a reasonable solution (sound familiar?)

reagan, on the other hand, was terrible and yet the powers that be and the popular press somehow made him out to be a great one, and so his legacy if uncaring service cuts for the poor and greedy tax cuts for the rich and corporate welfare for the biggest campaign donors his come to consume washington.

a bad president identified as bad is bad enough.
a bad president identified as good is absolutely dreadful.

22. Andrew Johnson's mishandling of reconstruction affects us to this day.
Not that I would give Reagan a pass.

We made great progress until about 1970, when the seeds of post-war decadence bloomed with the MIC and the takeover of corporatism. Reagan did not start it, but he rode the wave and brought it crashing down on us.

20. And more corrupt than even Nixon
if you rate them by numbers of ethical violations, Congressional investigations, forced resignations, etc. Even his Attorney General, Ed Meese, the chief law enforcement officer in the country, was embroiled in corruption.

23. Well, we haven't even begun to account for the wickedness of the Bush II Administration.
We're by no means out of the pit of corruption they drove us into. In fact, it looks like we're sinking deeper.

32. He wasn't even good for conservatives
He vastly increased the size of government, raised taxes overall (income tax decrease was more than offset by other increases), and gave amnesty to illegal aliens.

They seem to gloss over that when they pray before his altar.
