Was Rev Wright responsible for Obama's reversal on gay marriage?

I don't get it. How could he be for gay marriage in 1996 and then turn against it? Was that around the time when he joined Wright's church?

That Obama cannot think on his own and develops his positions according to Rev Wright.

It's not so much Wright's fault as it is the indoctrination into Christianity.

Obama is not a "churchy" guy.. He HAD to align with a church in order to do his JOB in Chicago. The people he was trying to help DID have a close connection to that church, so he joined it.. He was raised in a secular family, and like many people his age, did not "belong" to any particular faith. When he went into politics, he "needed" to be seen as a "man of faith" in order to curry favor with voters.. the secular people don't care one way or the other in most cases, but the hyper-religious folks DO.. He spent most of his time in Springfield, and on rare weekends home, they probably did not even GO to church..

The media folks who follow politicians around & report on everything they do & say are the ones who created the "need to pray in public"..

From what I have read, Michelle's family attended this church, so of course that's where HE would go when he did go to church, and when they got married.. I doubt that he was in the front row, hanging on every word, every chance he got..
