Lynn Woolsey Rumored to Announce Retirement Next Week

Congresswoman Lynn Woolsey, who has represented California's 6th Congressional District, which includes parts of the Sonoma Valley, in Washington for 19 years, is believed to be on the verge of announcing her retirement when her term expires in 2012, according to a report in the Santa Rosa Press Democrat.

Woolsey, D-Petaluma, notified the media that she will make an announcement from her Petaluma home on June 27, but the release said nothing about the reason for the gathering.

According to the story, which relied on anynomous sources, Woolsey will make the announcement next week. Woolsey serves the sixth district, which she has represented in Congress since 1992, and includes all of Marin County and parts of Sonoma County.
