US Admiral Says NATO Aiming to Kill Gaddafi (Ground Troops May Be Needed)
Source: Sydney Morning Herald

US NAVY Admiral Samuel Locklear III told House Armed Services Committee member Mike Turner last month that NATO forces are trying to kill Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, Foreign Policy magazine has reported, citing Mr Turner.

Admiral Locklear heads the Allied Joint Force Command in Naples, Italy.

Mr Turner, an Ohio Republican who voted against authorising the Libyan operation last week, said the admiral also told him that ground troops may be needed in Libya after Colonel Gaddafi is ousted, the magazine reported.

2. Dunno about your definition, but IMO if the goal is to murder the leader of a sovereign nation,
it's war, not a military police action or any other weasel phrase.

3. Assassinations-R-Us.
A modern day, world encompassing version of Murder, Inc. Hostile takeovers with hot lead.

Louis "Lepke" Buchalter would be proud of the tactics and direction of the US military.

6. There isn't going to be any US ground troops. Obama made that clear. It doesn't matter what any
Admiral or General says.

8. There are Special Forces on the Ground confirmed. U.S. can continue to lie and lie and lie ...

You can say they are wearing sandals, not officially working for DOD, are not called "troops" but the evidence is that they are there with the goal of overturning the Gov.

11. It would be more profitable to defense contractors if there were.
It would mean more war contracts would have to be issued to deal with a new responsibility.

14. Too bad for them. I'm sure they are gearing up for a war with Obama and Panetta on cutting funding
at DOD. It is coming. Congress, the Generals and the Defense Contractors are going fight it every step of the way. We already saw what they did when Obama & Gates insisted on cutting crap the DOD doesn't even want or need.

Congress - both parties - are the root of the problem when it comes to cutting Military spending & having a more sane relationship with the Israeli Government. They f#$k over Presidents of both Parties when they try to do the right thing. They've done it to Obama on both issues.

7. Does this fall under "We've got to fight them over there." or, "Smoke 'em out" foreign policy?
Or, "Dumb and Dumberer"?

13. Have fun and go do it. And try not to kill too many other people while you are about it.

But don't expect all tax-payers to be implicated in all the lawless killing
and general mahem.

18. But I thought this wan't about regime change?
We supported Qaddaffi for how many years??

What changed so suddenly that the Obama administration now say it is "too late" for his offer to step down at the next election?
