Two Japanese Governors say "No!" to Nuclear Power..
Edited on Mon Jun-27-11 11:51 PM by AsahinaKimi
Yamaguchi gov. not to extend permit for local nuclear plant project
YAMAGUCHI, Japan (Kyodo) -- Yamaguchi Gov. Sekinari Nii said Monday he will not extend a license for Chugoku Electric Power Co. to reclaim land off the western Japan prefecture in a move that will seriously set back the utility's new nuclear power plant project.

As a reason for his decision, the governor pointed to the dim prospects for "the building of a nuclear plant, which is the aim of the reclamation work," because the national government is rethinking its energy policy following the disaster at Tokyo Electric Power Co.'s Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant.

But he also said during a session of the prefectural assembly, "I will weigh the matter carefully again and reach a conclusion if Chugoku Electric asks for an extension after the state has come up with a new energy policy."

Fukushima governor aims to abandon nuclear power generation
FUKUSHIMA (Kyodo) -- Fukushima Gov. Yuhei Sato said Monday he intends to incorporate the idea of abandoning nuclear power generation in the northeastern prefecture's blueprint for reconstruction to be drawn up by the end of July.

"I have come to believe that Fukushima Prefecture should aim to create a society that is not reliant on nuclear power," Sato told a session of the prefectural assembly.

The prefecture hosts Tokyo Electric Power Co.'s Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant, which has been crippled since the March 11 earthquake and tsunami.

Jeez, whadda they got against nuclear power? They're still alive, aren't they? I guess they'd rather just sit in the dark, they're such alarmists.

3. I know you are joking...
but that is one thing I miss about the country- sitting in the dark and seeing a massive amount of stars that you cannot see in the city.
