Poll question: If you had the opportunity to leave the US, where would you choose to live?
Edited on Wed Jun-29-11 09:34 AM by Dreamer Tatum
I have the chance to live in Mexico City again. Got me to wondering...where would you want to go, and why?

And the place is wonderful. We plan on retiring there anyway. Just haven't decided which area yet.

10. Sorrento, Italia
or maybe Haarlem, near Amsterdam. If I was rich, maybe London. Canada way too wintery for me, I'm a snow impaired person. Costa Rica, not bad at all.

15. New Zealand. Tried talking my husband into it, but he says it's too isolated.
I like that it is a fairly liberal country and I can easily meet their immigration requirements.

19. Another enthusiastic vote for New Zealand.
Spent a couple of weeks there in 2003. Beautiful country, mellow, laid-back people, fabulous food/wine, pace of life like it was here when I was a boy in the early 1960s and about as far away from the open air lunatic asylum the US is becoming as is possible. Perfection itself. I'd be there in a month if I could afford/figure out how to do it.

22. Nobody has made a "don't let the door hit you on the ass on the way out" comment. Things must be bad
In the past, this kind of discussion would have resulted "love it or leave it" comments, but now I can't really blame anyone for dreaming about leaving.

I'd go to Canada for practical reasons, otherwise I'd be okay with all of the above place suggestions!

35. I didn't take this as a question of "where would you rather live".
More like "where would you live if you couldn't live here".

Truthfully, just the thought of leaving my state would make me sad. I would choose Canada,if I had to go,mainly because I could see Michigan from my house.:-)

30. I left the country for 5 years after Bu*h was selected.
I go there because it is a paradise and everything is already set up for an easy, fun, and anonymous bohemian lifestyle on the beach.

You'll have to waterboard me in order to find out where.

Warm, tropical climate and an economy built on ecotourism. The coastal regions are similar to Florida pre-sprawl.

I wouldn't want to move anywhere cold unless I was forced to. Sorry, Canada, no offense.

43. Depends on how much money I would have.
Lets say I were to hit the Lotto then I would likely go to Europe somewhere near the Mediterranean. I would also look at South America. Uruguay or Argentina look nice.

45. First choice, Canada.
Second choice, England. Third choice, Sweden. I am a littl old to learn a new language, which is why I went with my first two choices. Sweden is where my Dad's family is from, and I can get dual citizenship (I am checking into it) but the climate and language changes would be hard for me. :(
