20. Might you consider pointing out what part of the conference was perhaps
interpreted incorrectly, or taken out of context, or misunderstood and then offer a correction rather than "it's a lie" or something similar?

5. I don't think that's exactly what he said - or at least the context is off...
He'll look for ways to cut costs or something like that. I took it to mean (glass half full) that misspending and waste would be eliminated but also (half empty) worse case scenario actually cutting benefits and other Republican ideas.

Hope there's a transcript coming....I couldn't keep up and would really like to know.

14. Not exact, but he said that some of the tough decision he was willing to make
would cause his base to complain. He was not specific, imo.

At approximately 11:00 mark -- referencing entitlements, "...reduce costs but not shifting the costs to our seniors..." and "...I expect them to do the responsible thing." He stressed it over and over, putting the emphasis on the wealthy paying their fair share.

He didn't give any specifics about what cuts would be made, but he did NOT say "go against his base" - that's your interpretation.

He acknowledged that his base would have reason to be angry with him, but that's a constant and a given, so QUELLE surprise to that.

And implicit in that is that the R's are going to have to eat it as well, which is exactly why they're procrastinating.

29. my impressions were that he could cut the programs but not real benefits to
people. Similar to what he did before with Medicare...there were cuts but not to benefits. Efficiencies.
