The Republicans are holding Americans hostage.

They have gotten us into a pickle with the huge debt run up under George W Bush and their Party and now they say it is critical that we pay off this debt but not by raising any taxes?? They want spending cuts in the trillions of dollars. This is nothing more than extortion. At least, when we consider that they had a $260 billion dollar surplus just 10 years ago and a projected surplus of $5 trillion dollars by 2011. A surplus of $5 trillion dollars!! But they found a way to destroy the government we had built up over 75 years and that had helped so many middle-class and common folks.

I would like very much to see the Democrats in power once again, with a veto-proof Congress and Senate and a good Democrat in the White House. They should promise the people that they will make these folks pay us back for the thirty years they have robbed us with their supply-side and trickle-down voodoo economics. They should be taxed until their eyes bleed.

I would like to see a good populist run with that very message. Either this is a country for the people or it is a country for the few wealthy. The voters need to decide, both Democrats and Republicans, what kind of country they want. They need to catapult the propaganda of the corporatists and put in a Congress and a Senate that will stand behind the people.

That is not easy done. It is probably a pipedream. But we should try anyway. We should look for a majority that will defeat these terrorists and hostage-holders called Republicans and put this government back into the hands of the people. Spread the word.
