http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/06/29/texas-drought-natural-disaster_n_886992.html

'Drought and wildfires have lead to the decision by the US Department of Agriculture to declare the entire state of Texas a natural disaster.

KCBD in Lubbock reports that in all, 213 counties in Texas have lost at least 30 percent of their crops or pasture.'

1. You want to give an edge to Rick Perry?
A hurricane is an "Act of God", right?

And Perry called on people to pray for rain in April, right?

You want him to claim his prayers were finally answerer?

18. Well, if it's making Perry look bad

or helping to ruin the lives of many thousands of people, stress the ecosystem, incur the possibility of wildfires and just generally make the lives of millions miserable, there's no question.

By all means, it's far more important to make Perry look a bit more ridiculous.

(Do I really need the /sarcasm pseudo-tag?)

2. Not to worry. 'The Response' is scheduled in just another month. I'm sure Texas will then get
all the rain they need.

My partner lives at Cedar Creek Lake-and this is a big time of year for their profits....fireworks banned and water levels 10-20 feet less than normal.

9. The pond at my parents' place in Dripping Springs is in similar shape.
I went down into the pond a couple of weeks ago taking pictures, including of a dam my father says is well over a hundred years old (it didn't look that old.) However, I've never seen it high and dry; it always had at least a couple of feet of water over it. It must have been there long before the pond was scooped out.

7. Pass it on to Gov. Goodhair and his ilk.
They are not the entirety of Texas, you know. At least I would hope you know that...

12. Then next time say,
"Hey Perry/teabaggers, there's no global warming. Pass it on."
Instead of the broad brush.

17. 30% is a hell of a lot!
It probably adds up to more land than exists in entire states, and we still have to practically beg for disaster status, thanks to Perry's antics and whatnot.

For the USDA, it adds up more to lost revenue. I'll bet that's why they decided to act.
