Edited on Wed Jun-29-11 09:05 PM by rainy
One of my most republican "friends" posted this on his facebook.
Here is the link: http://www.torontosun.com/2011/06/28/lennon-was-a-closet-republican-assistant

John Lennon was a closet Republican, who felt a little embarrassed by his former radicalism, at the time of his death - according to the tragic Beatles star's last personal assistant.

Fred Seaman worked alongside the music legend from 1979 to Lennon's death at the end of 1980 and he reveals the star was a Ronald Reagan fan who enjoyed arguing with left-wing radicals who reminded him of his former self.

Read the rest at the above link.

1. Hogwash, says The Nation:

Plus, this story comes from Fred Seaman, who was caught stealing some of Lennon's stuff. He is not to be trusted.

3. Bullshit
If any of that was true then John Lennon was mentally ill at the end of his life because thats the only way to explain going to being as left as you can get to being a "closet Conservative" and if he really "felt bad" about being a "hippie" then the would not have been a "closet" Conservative, he would have been a open Conservative.

7. All part of the re write history campaign of the right.
It is bullshit by a petty thief that wants to sell some books to the right wing.

8. All this does is remind me of how much the right fears other influences. Who would have thought
John Lennon still has the power to scare them?

10. If John took the other side of the argument against progressivism,
he only did it in a Socratic exercise, to see how well his opponent could carry the argument. I don't believe for a moment Lennon "converted". Think about it. John joining Paul in abandoning principles of social justice in favor of chasing the dollar? I don't think so.
