Wisconsin: There's something happenin' here. What it is ain't exactly clear.
Last fall, the right-wing Milwaukee Journal/Sentinel endorsed Scott Walker for Governor. This week, they appear to have reversed that decision.

Headlines today on the front page of their website:

STATE BLOCKS PLANS TO APPLY FOR FEDERAL HEALTH GRANTS

FEWER WISCONSIN JOBS OFFER HEALTH INSURANCE BENEFITS, STUDY FINDS

THORNTON REVEALS 519 LAYOFFS INCLUDING 354 TEACHERS (refers to Milwaukee Public Schools Superintendent Gregory Thornton)

UNION LEADERS PROMISE ACTION AS BARGAINING LAW TAKES EFFECT

This comes on the heels of the JS running back-to-back lead articles that even this lefty perceived as clearly anti-Prosser, including yesterday's that screamed "Prosser advised to get counseling" while saving for the fine print the tidbit that this advice came from Ann Bradley.

If the Republicans have lost the JS's support, it's a big deal here. It's a Milwaukee paper, sure, but their outstanding sports coverage makes them the paper of choice throughout the state. They've won a couple Pulitzer's in the past few years.

Let's hope they've seen the light on Walker and his cronies.

It's something we all must reckon with sooner or later.

2. As unpopular as Walker is, I think they know their subscription
income will plummet if they didn't act. I suspect they are getting strongly anti-Walker LTEs which all can't be printed, and they know they are blamed for their endorsement. If people are losing jobs, the first and easiest expense to let go of is the newspaper sub.

Liberal web site releases polling on three recall contests

By Craig Gilbert of the Journal Sentinel

June 29, 2011 |(12) Comments

The liberal web site Daily Kos released polling numbers in three state Senate recall races, showing the GOP incumbents trailing in two and leading in one.

The surveys were done June 23-26 by Public Policy Polling for the web site, which advocates the defeat of the Republican legislators.

In the 32nd Senate district, Republican incumbent Dan Kapanke trailed Democrat Jennifer Schilling 42% to 56% among likely voters. In the 18th Senate district, Republican incumbent Randy Hopper trailed Democrat Jessica King 47% to 50%. And in the 10th Senate district, GOP incumbent Sheila Harsdorf led Democrat Shelly Moore 50% to 45%. ................................

6. don't believe the hype
I'll believe that when they "recall" their endorsement of Snotty Scotty, and endorse his opponent next year.
