A sobering reminder from Thom Hartmann:
When W's name was initially offered as a potential presidential candidate, people scoffed at the idea and thought he'd never make it. The failed businesses, the hinky deal with the Braves, etc. Whoops. I was convinced he'd never be reelected. Whoops again.

:scared:

I remember thinking we'd have a hard enough time getting Hillary elected since she's a woman (wasn't aware of the RW Clinton hatred at the time) and felt no way was this country ready for a Black president. Need I say boy, was I wrong?

And as Thom also mentioned, the vast majority of Americans don't pay attention to politics and probably aren't aware of what bills have/have not been passed -- that they'll register to vote, about half do, and they'll begin to pay attention about a month before the election.

Soooo, all the crap we know about Bachmann, for example, won't make it into the general consciousness by the time the primaries roll around should she become the candidate.

We have to always remember that THEY don't know all that WE do.

Carry on. :7 :hi:

1. I didn't scoff.

And I NEVER thought he'd be elected. I realized then that there would be a robbery.

2. This is exactly what I say to people who want Palin as a candidate
Nobody thought a dimwitted B-actor turned corporate pitchman had a chance, nor did they think a Connecticut preppie turned fake cowboy and dry drunk had a ghost of a chance, either.

Given what we know about RNC racketeering and election fraud, anything is possible and the far right is still perfectly capable of cheating another malleable dupe into office.

Take these lunatics seriously until they are rejected in the primaries.

4. Considering that both elections were questionable as to who won
and probably rigged in his favor, I would have to assume that a Bachmann or Palin presidency would have to be similarly rigged. Neither would win an honest vote. With all the laws being passed today to limit voter roles and challenge their legitimacy, I would say the fix is being put in place and unless, we the people, roar about it loud and clear, it's possible for the right wing crazies to cheat their way through another Presidential election again especially when they are being bankrolled by multi-billionaires who want Obama out of office and one of their crazies in.

5. Hartmann's reference to people not being aware of what
laws have been passed was during a conversation about the voter restrictions. So many people (many Black, poor people) will show up oblivious, and not be able to vote. Mission Accomplished.

If the laws are passed and we're unable to get them changed, then we need to take it to the streets to inform people and drive them to hell and back to help them get their birth certificates. It's not easy in some places. Hell, when I moved back to WA State I had a hell of a time getting a WA State Drivers' License with all the "proof" they required. The only reason she gave it to me was because my previous license was still in the system and she saw the pic was indeed me. And I'm a white, more than middle-aged, harmless looking woman.

This is so wrong! :grr:
