Birther Jerome Corsi to sue magazine for poor book sales about his birther book
File this under 'too stupid for words'

‘Birther’ authors sue Esquire magazine over parody

http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2011/06/29/birther-authors-sue-esquire-magazine-over-parody/

Joseph Farah, the editor of WorldNetDaily.com, and Jerome Corsi, author of Where’s the Birth Certificate? The Case That Barack Obama Is Not Eligible to Be President, have filed a defamation lawsuit against Hearst, Esquire magazine and writer Mark Warren over a satirical article.

The lawsuit, announced Wednesday, claims that an article written by Warren and published by Esquire on May 18 defamed Farah and Corsi, and damaged their business interests.

The article was entitled, "BREAKING! Jerome Corsi’s Birther Book Pulled From Shelves!" and satirically claimed that Farah told Corsi he pulled the book because "we don't want to look like fucking idiots" after President Barack Obama released his long-form birth certificate.

<<<<snip>>>>

Forbes reported that Farah and Corsi are seeking compensatory damages of $100 million and punitive damages of $20 million. They claim the article harmed their book sales.

Esquire hurt their book sales? How about the fact that you were writing a book that the rest of the world with a half decent IQ knew was a bullshit story. If anyone should be sued, sue Obama for basically putting a nail in the Birth Cash Cow when Obama finally showed everyone the long-form certificate. (just kidding but hell, they're birthers/tea party assholes - it's everyone elses fault but their own)

Isn't the truism that any publicity is good publicity when it comes to movies and books and things?

Didn't Al Franken thank Bill O'Reilly and FOX for the free publicity when they sued him in 2003 and sent sales through the roof?

What's wrong with these guys?

Instead of griping, they should be writing thank you notes to Esquire, Warren, et al, because without their free publicity, Farah and Corsi would have sold even fewer books! Idiots.

6. Nothing could help them after Obama produced the long form
birth certificate days before the book launch and the swift boating began.
And then Bin Laden was killed and their stupid crap book crashed and burned. It was freaking perfect.

I hope the assholes sue

8. I hope they sue, too!
It would be highly entertaining for quite some time. I'm already picturing Stewart and Colbert riffing on the lawsuit. :D

7. Negative book reviews as restraint of trade.
Hmm, a new era dawns in literary criticism. ;-)

10. Let's see here
First of all Esquire's attorneys will file a Rule 12(b)(6) motion - failure to state a claim upon which relief may be granted. After the judge grants that, they will file a motion for sanctions, costs and attorney's fees. Which will in all likelihood be granted. These apes are setting themselves up for a serious dressing down by a federal judge.
