Obama should threaten vetos unless he gets exactly what he wants.
Or at least what he should want. He should say that he will veto any bill that doesn't cleanly raise the debt limit. No half measures that pays debt and screws the nation. So if they can't agree on cuts and revenue, then Obama should take a hard line. Veto anything he disagrees with. And veto any half measures. It would be up to the republicans to send a clean bill to Obama. It's a game of chicken they don't want to play.

So what would it take for Obama to pull this off? He would have to be "unreasonable" for a change. No more adult in the room bullshit where the Democrats are the only ones being adults.

1. All signs indicate he is already getting exactly what he wants
Why would he have to veto anything when his speeches are filled with Republican talking points?

2. That Would Set Him Up to Take the Blame for the Resulting Economic Crash…
…when the debt limit does NOT get raised. It would be political suicide.

4. No it doesn't.
He would take a stand for doing what needs to be done. Not for the shenanigans. He wouldn't be getting bullied the way he is.
