Yesterday I heard on the radio news that young latinos outnumber young white
people in a handful of states. California is one. These are people 19 and under. They said that in a generation Latino adults will outnumber white adults and the generation after that older Latinos will outnumber older white adults. I don't have a link. I heard it on the radio during the Bill Press Show.

The Tea Party is cooked!

2. Why?

These are facts gathered from the Census.

This is just the next phase of the many demographic mixes we've gone through in this nation's history, but it's the first where whites have not been the majority. It was going to happen sooner or later.

imply something less than impartial in your post.

On edit: are tea partiers even a big deal in Cali?

4. I laugh at the Tea Party all the time for many reasons

When something makes their tiny pointy little heads explode, I laugh.

To answer your question, California has it's Tea Party. It's also now outnumbered, albeit with people who don't vote for the most part because they're too young yet. But give it another ten years.

8. I guess I see your point of view but the info isn't exactly new.
It actually inflames the rhetoric of the racists even more as it gets closer and closer. The "impending doom" argument gains more momentum with each passing year.

9. Don't laugh too hard
I've met Latino teabaggers. Most of them are pochos who identify as "real Murkins" who pay too much in taxes. The legions of stupid never have to look hard for recruits.

10. The tea party isn't that big of a deal in the first place
It's having its moment now, but don't count on it being a force five years from now (of course, I could be wrong). I think what you are getting it is that the slow demographic shift towards a white plurality instead of a majority doesn't bode well for Republicans. That's probably true in the very long term (many decades from now). But there's a lot of life to be lived and governing to be done before that happens. The projected Latino 'supervote' hasn't materialized yet and probably won't for a very long time.

Also, I do think that as time passes and America becomes a less white country, Republicans will increase their share of the white vote in order to stay viable. A good chunk of 50 percent of the population is much more valuable than a somewhat larger chunk of 20 percent. Just look at Mississippi, which is roughly 40 percent black. Republicans win there because they dominate the white vote (and because blacks don't turn up at the polls as much, though I think the former is the more significant reason).
