A friend posted on FB (and I'm paraphrasing, here) that people of faith need to keep in mind that "I am my brother's keeper."

Most of the respondents replied in remarkably compassionate terms.

Then Mr. Republican jumped in with the obligatory we-shouldn't-pay-people-to-be-lazy meme, citing the requisite number of acquaintances who remain unemployed because they make more money on unemployment. He then enlightens us with this:

"I love it when liberals turn to the bible. The devil can quote scripture to suit his own needs. Charity is the responsibility of the individual not the function of government."

What is it in the DNA of these christorepublicans that lets them proclaim a faith while demanding behaviors that defy the precepts they claim to espouse?

2. Well, a few things:
First is that most of them haven't actually read the bible. They allow others to interpret the bible for them. I discovered that on a trip down the I 90. Interesting thing, that. Reading Matthew would be an education for them.

The second thing is that their religion allows them to feel that they are better than the rest of the world. They aren't, of course, but they forgot that 'humility' thing in there, too. This makes them judgmental as hell.

Finally, I'm convinced that they completely lack empathy. Their God is a cruel father. Since their God is made in their own image, it makes it relatively easy for them to turn their back on their fellow man, since that is what they are convinced their God would do.

I find these people to be lacking both scruples and morals.

3. All the billions and trillions of dollars the gubmint spends comes from exactly where?
Us. It is no duty of any bible thumping nitwit to tell the gubmint how to distribute my money. If they see fit to help the less able, less fortunate then so be it.

Each according to his needs, each according to his ability.
