Challenge to Oklahoma redistricting plan continues
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Parties in a case challenging the new boundaries for the Oklahoma Senate districts will submit their ideas next week for how the case should proceed.

Oklahoma Supreme Court Referee Greg Albert met with both sides on Friday to discuss procedural issues for the case.

Democratic Sen. Jim Wilson of Tahlequah has filed a lawsuit claiming the new districts were gerrymandered by Republicans to maintain their 32-16 majority in the state Senate. He alleges in his lawsuit that the new map violates a constitutional requirement that consideration be given to compactness, historical precedent, economic and political interests, and contiguous territories.

Lee Slater, an attorney for the Senate, maintains the committee that drew the maps followed all relevant redistricting laws and expressed confidence the new boundaries will be upheld.
