I think I'll hold off judging Obama until the actual deal is announced.
I've been throwing out criticism based on reports of what he is negotiating on the debt deal.
But I've finally come to the realization that nothing I hear right now is valid.

The anger inducing rumors might not be true.
They might even be deliberate disinformation spread by the GOP to induce discord in the Democratic ranks.

Or he may give the impression of giving in to the GOP as a ploy to extract more favorable outcomes from the GOP later.

Or maybe he does plan to give away the store to the GOP.

We just don't know yet.

Once the deal is finalized and announced I may react but until then I've decided that we just don't know what he's really thinking.
To get all worked up about it right now is wasted energy.

2. I'd rather express my displeasure at what is being talked about now
with the hope these offers, trial balloons or whatever they're called get knocked down than not say anything and be sold out.

6. THAT'S INSANE! You need to go fly off the handle right now.
And withdraw your support even though you're a "lifelong Democrat!" Isn't that they way we're supposed to do it? ;)

I thrive on insanity as long as it isn't infused in a tea bag.

8. That's all we can ever do, really -- regardless of the issue. Once
we've contacted the WH and our reps, not sure what else we can do but see what transpires. IF anything occurs that angers/frustrates/disappoints us, then we can get worked up! (Again, though, not that it would do any good. :7)

will shift to explaining why the cuts were pragmatic and necessary and adult, and why we have to now look forward. Who knows? Maybe they'll even toss in a "they'll fix the bill later" or "thank god it passed" for old time's sake.

14. I think I'll have plenty of energy left to gin up some bitter sarcastic comments later.
I'm not counting on an outcome I heartily approve of, I just think I'll wait until I know the specifics before I rant and rave.

22. Too late for what?
One can still write Congress, protest, raise awareness of these issues, etc. without engaging in bullshit histrionics that assume that every fucking thing an unnamed source on HuffPost says is true and without assuming that Obama is Mussolini v. 2.0.

If there's anything that anyone can do to get a better result out of this, please do it. The point isn't to stop. The point is that it's fucking moronic to judge the outcome before it's clear what it will be.

Hes the ONLY POTUS. A deal to cut entitlements to raise taxes will have his democratic

signature to hold for the rest of time, that hes in office.

23. I'll attack what I think is bad policy for myself and the American people
from acorn to tree.

The time to fight back is now before the consensus concrete sets and the bus has left the station.

Scream bloody fucking murder at bad ideas being floated, demonstrate zero tolerance so that these insular rich fucks that play marionette to the truly wealthy know they cannot survive politically and indeed may be risking setting a powder keg that will blow it all to hell if they don't drop the austerity cock and bull and get serious about making the regular people's lives better.

Wait and see is the political equivalent to the old four corners offense run by Dean Smith until the advent of the shot clock. Wait and see runs out the clock until the game is over and then the PR onslaught begins.

I can talk in terms of a game but it isn't a game at all. This is about real people and sacrificing our needs and best interests to support corporate welfare, tax breaks for the wealthy and multi-national corporations, and the imperial resource war machine.

It is about legitimizing the plundering of our money for nefarious purposes to maintain a fucked up system.

Wait and see also is a spectrum of conversation limiting device that allows the beltway bullshit to be the only sounds that are audible and sets up the loyalist to reverse tacks once their way has been gotten to claim that there wasn't much resistance but now all hell has broken loose...why?!?!???

How motherfuckers think they can play the same games over and over in such short time is beyond me.

Folks are always wanting quotes well I want the one that says "I'll see you in Hell before I make a deal to add one straw to the backs of the people that have borne the full brunt of your failed policies and insane ideology" or the one that says "I'm interested in bipartisanship as an ideal but it isn't practical or desirable with those who are wrong about everything under the Sun for two or three generations and have a religious like zealotry for what is a demonstrably failed ideology" or "I'm not interested in occupying the middle ground between the status quo and batshit insanity" or "We are having a battle of ideas between your old failed scams and new extremism that would make the John Birch Society hang their heads in shame that you folks went to in response to me adopting your very fucking questionable principles because you are a bunch of intellectual lightweights, bullies, and contrarians playing games with the future of our country".
