Rupert Murdoch Expulsion

I have read some posts that suggest that Murdoch became a citizen by an act of Congress.
I knew he was a naturalized citizen.
In May of 1985 he told the FCC that he was going to start working on becoming a US citizen
and by July of 1985 he was.

I am having trouble finding any information to the effect that Congress had a role in this.
My thought is that if Congress had a role in making him a citizen then they can undo
this mistake and rescind it. We do not need this illegal scum in this country.

Can someone direct me to any reference to Congress and Murdoch??

1. I didn't know about an act of Congress.

I did know he became a citizen solely to circumvent our laws against foreign ownership of media.

George HW Bush gave him his citizenship.

I know that if he has engaged in this criminal behavior. (Innocent until and all that) he can be stripped and expelled.

3. "As veep." I thought as POTUS.

Is my memory that off? Should have looked it up to make sure instead of going with what was in my head.

But I do like the "strip and expel" part. Although none of us would like to see him literally naked.

It would bring such joy to so many.

4. I don't know how true this is but I read that Sen. Schumer

snook a passage in a bill in the middle of the night that was being voted on the next morning making Murdock a naturalized citizen. I remember reading this from years ago so I may be misremembering but I've lived with thinking I know this for years. If I'm wrong surely someone will correct me.

5. as i understand it there are limited reasons for citizenship to be revoked

and they are:

- Convicted For An Act Of Treason Against The United States
- Holding A Policy Level Position In A Foreign Country
- Serving In Your Native Country’s Armed Forces If That Country Is Engaged In Hostilities Or At War With The United States
- Serving In Your Native Country’s Armed Forces As An Officer Or A Non-Commissioned Officer
- Lying To The USCIS During The Naturalization Process
- Refusal To Testify Before Congress About Your Subversive Activities

having Congress move to revoke citizenship is a dangerous path.

7. On second thought, did you hear FCC Commissioner Micahel Copps on NPR?

He made a comment about how the FCC allowed access to the public spectrum in exchange for serving public good or something to that effect. Evidently, the FCC has the authority to revoke a license on that grounds.
