Latest on the Murdock Scandal.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/blog/2011/jul/16/phone-hacking-rupert-murdoch

5.01pm: Here's a late afternoon round-up of the latest developments:

• News International has taken out advertisements in all British national newspapers this weekend to apologise "for the serious wrongdoing that occurred at the News of the World".

• Foreign secretary William Hague has defended David Cameron's decision to invite former Andy Coulson to Chequers after his resignation as Downing Street director of communications.

• Elisabeth Murdoch is reported to have allegedly blamed her brother James and Rebekah Brooks for the crisis now facing News Corp, amid rumours she is now being positioned as her father's successor.

• Former treasury minister Paul Myners has called on BSkyB shareholders to oust James Murdoch as chairman of the broadcaster at the company's next annual general meeting.

1. If this takes down James Murdoch it is huge
the infighting between Elisabeth and James could rip News Corp apart right when they need to circle the wagons.

They should be grateful that no one is hacking THEIR phones right now.

2. Perhaps they believe the best strategy to keeping family control is to split up versus
"circling the wagons" and all going down together.

6. I'm hoping that 20th Century Fox gets sold off to Apple/Pixar
And Apple is worth more than MS, Dell and HP combined. It would be a nice fit with Apple. The animation of Pixar combined with 20th C Fox's film holdings (Star Wars, Sound of Music, etc, etc.) would rival Disney. The distribution and vertical integration of an Apple/Pixar/Fox company would surpass Disney/ABC.
