It's still only officially TD2 right now, but some posters on Jeff Master's blog have mentioned there being sustained winds of 45mph, meaning we have Bret.

I don't get why the models are taking Bret out to sea, there is a ridge of high pressure in the way. My looking at the mid-level winds tells me Bret should pass over southern Florida and then blow up in the really hot waters and low wind shear in the Gulf, maybe Cat2. it will be fighting off dry air from the ridge, so I don't see it getting stronger than weak Car2.

5. From what I've seen there's a really strong boundary front here on the East Coast
Edited on Sun Jul-17-11 07:19 PM by KoKo
that goes up almost to Canadian Border that would act as a barrier from it hitting the SE Coast.

We are supposed to have RECORD HEAT (worse than our over 100 Degree Heat Index of last week coming along in a few days for us here on SE Coast. That might be why it wouldn't be a problem. It would be deflected by that "persistent boundary."

8. We finally got a lot of steady rain here in South Ala. after weeks of drought.
Some kind of mildly circulating system swept in from the Gulf and gave 2 days of blessed cool temps and nice rain.
Looks like it will end starting to morrow, but sure was enjoyable this week of lower temps.
