Statement from the Met Police: Assistant Commissioner John Yates has indicated his intention to resign to the Chair of the Metropolitan Police Authority. This has been accepted.

Also : Rebekah Brooks' lawyer gives statement on her arrest.

Former News International chief executive Rebekah Brooks' lawyer Stephen Parkinson, has given a a statement about her arrest and her upcoming appearance before the Culture, Media and Sport committee.

He said the Metropolitan Police conducted an interview process which lasted nine hours and that they put no allegations to her, nor showed her any documents connecting her with any crime.
