This is probably an odd question, but Keith talking about the British Parliament and the thread mentioning that some members of the Tory party consider Cameron too left-wing it got me wondering: Are Conservative parties in other westernized nations as radical as our Republicans or did we get stuck with the worst group?
2. The Conservatives in Canada had to move to the center to get a majority. They
are still acting a little liberal and I wonder if this isn't because there is an election in Ontario in October where the conservatives there now have a good chance of getting in.... but Ontario voters are skittish because in 1995 they elected a complete neocon and hated him. Could be...
Basically the federal conservatives in Canada, the new conservatives have not been able to act how they really want until now. We shall see.
We had old time conservatives in the 1980s who called themselves the Progressive Conservatives. They were a little Liberal too.
