MSNBC panel whining about how Bush was held accountable while Obama isnt
(Reposting because of one of those mysterious DU "posting error" messages.)

The rewrite of history continues. Stunning discussion just ended about how the NYT would put Bush's feet to the fire every day, re: war, but no one ever questions Obama? Huh? As I recall, the NYT helped Bush take America into illegal war. I may not approve of the way Obama is handling our various occupations and drone attacks, but to say he's getting a pass while Bush was held accountable is completely absurd.

4. It is cute to suggest that the President has no responsiblity in
terms of holding Bush accountable, and painfully adorable to suggest that private, for profit infotainment companies do somehow have that duty. The President swore to do it. They swore to make profit. Yet here, oh, the TV Show is failing to do the job of the executive branch! Hilarious.
Sure it would be great to have better reporting. But even if we did, the responsibility and authority lies with our elected officials, not with private enterprise. Do you really want 'media' in charge of justice and accountability at all times? Newscorp should have that duty, not the people the Constitution gives that duty to?

5. I think you completely missed the point.
The discussion was ABOUT the media, and how, while GWB was in office, they hammered him every day, they held his feet to the fire, the poor guy couldn't get a break. They were literally upset at the way poor George was treated by the media when he tried to defend the United States from the evil doers. The discussion wasn't about the President or the DOJ going after him, it was explicitly about how the MEDIA treated him -- supposedly, they wouldn't give him a break. Kind of a little bit different than most sane Americans remember Judith Miller and the NYT and Fox "News" and CNN, etc etc etc.
