Just did a little experiment on Google.

A search for "our leaders" on DU brings up about 231,000 hits.

A search for "our representatives" brings up about 112,000 hits.


I have been noticing this terminology a lot on DU lately, and it has been bothering me. Language reflects and creates expectations. The numbers here are interesting.



COLA rigged? No, the chocolate ration has been increased.

5. No, it yields only 30,200.
You have to put quotes around it. Otherwise, you are getting any post with the words "our" and "senators" anywhere in the post.

2. Right, we actually have no leaders and no representatives,
so that terminology is inaccurate. We do have corporate shills on our payroll.

The people seem to be getting used to having major legislation created behind closed doors and passed on an "emergency" basis without their consent.

and that phrase is a lot more specific than "our leaders"!

on the other hand, "hate liberals" brings up 10,400 hits.
