Too early to tell, BUT we might be seeing the take down
of the modern media system.

What is happening at Fox Corp IS a classic of what happens when you are too big to fail. Ethics? If you are untouchable...

I am hoping out of this we see a break up of the media monopolies, and we may very well see that.

If this is the case, it will take a couple years, and yes... a few in this country will SCREAM I tell you, that this is libs going nuts.

4. Maybe, it seems not to early to believe we are seeing the end of Rupert
as an active CEO or board member.

He was TOO convincing about knowing nothing and remembering less.

George Soros should lead a leveraged buyout of FOX 'news'.

8. I'd prefer a sell-off of all of News Corp's properties.
Their network is simply too big, and too prevalent, to remain as a single entity, whether owned by Murdoch or the right-wing bogeyman Soros.

24. That's a great idea
maintain the Fox Brand and slowly make the same Talking Heads start uttering Liberal themes. The Teabaggers and Freeprland would implode.

11. Well, hopefully this scandal will scare the bejeebus out of the
others "news" people. If it can happen to Rupert it could happen to them. Maybe they will clean up their act.

18. You do know that they are based in the US
and certain LAWS do apply to them.

You are also aware that the FBI has started a GLOBA investigation, right?

We are about where the brits were about two years ago.

Given the revelations on the other side of the pond... ours will go a tad faster too.

As is investors ain't happy and they will force both Murdochs out if they can.

20. Yep, why scotlad yard has forced number one and number two
out... and there is a small crisis.

You are right... we have no idea bout how them brits work... or the fact that this is a GLOBAL concern. You think that there was absolutely no hacking on this side of the pond? Ethics, or rather lack off, flow from the top in this case.

17. I wish I could believe that...
...while it is certainly an entertaining spectacle right now, I feel that any "changes" will be of the same ilk as the "changes" that Obama brought: i.e., there will be some shuffling and a couple of smaller issues will be dealt with and for those there will be a great fanfare made to show the public that Something Has Been Done.

But when all is said and done, the power mongers will still be mongering the news, and the lies and false assumptions will still be pushed, and the population at large will still be distracted from the important issues.

The forms of modern media were probably irresistible for those who like to control others: because they afford the opportunity to brainwash on a mass level, with the boob tube being a most effective means for it.

As always, time will tell. The other part of the equation is that the population eventually does see how they are being used -- we do eventually even wise up to the methods used to manipulate us. Certainly, the young people today are often much more media-savvy than us odlsters, because they have grown up with it and they understand that anything you see on TV is staged, whether it is a commercial or a sitcom or a "reality" show. On the other hand, some of them are more gullible than we ever were, especially now that schools have pretty much given up on teaching critical thinking skills.

Ah well, interesting times.
