Explain something to me,
Rick Perry, Michell Bachmen,Herman Cain,Sarah Palin have all claimed to have been told by God to run for president and yet no one in the media finds this odd or crazy. However, Dennis Kucinich sees a UFO and the media act like he's insane. I don't get it. 10 minutes on Google and I could find claims from 100's of people claiming to have seen UFOs in the sky and the government's explanations for them aren't nearly as good as the explanations I can come up with for the the GOP candidates. Here is the explanation they are lying or crazy. Either way they shouldn't be considered for the presidency.

Seriously which is crazier hearing voices from God or seeing something in the sky that you can't identify?

4. On Countdown Keith said even if God does want one to win
the rest are all insane. Or as one his guests put if God exists he just has a sense of humor and realized that Rommeny,Pawlenty race would be boring so he gave us a Bachmann, a Cain, a Palin, a Perry, to laugh at. Though to be fair hearing Newt talk about family values while on his 4th marriage is pretty funny on its own.

9. Good point...
Maybe it's a joke. If God told them all to run, maybe he's planning on sitting back and watching the fracas. Maybe he's giving odds and taking bets...

15. to be precise, belief in "our" god is sacred. belief in any other god or gods is laughable.
as ricky gervais says, we're all atheists and we agree that 4,999 of the gods people have believed in at various point in our history simply don't exist, and belief in any of them is comical.

but that one, last god, that's where all the disagreement is, and somehow, it's not at all a laughing matter.

all they have to say is "Gawd told me to do it" that will make it OK.

And far more people believe God talks to them than believe in UFOs.

I think there's nothing else it could be but demented. There's nothing normal or good about being right wing.

11. Many in the US are demented and US now = United Stupidity. Many think god
created the US and it's a godly nation. It's all a bunch of F'en bullshit. Use the god word in this country and you score points. It's a ridiculous place anymore. And any politician claiming to hear voices from "their" god needs to see a psychiatrist IMO. ... but in this country these fools get a free pass. I shudder to think of what the future of the US will be ...

12. I was just talking to my sister about this...
Edited on Wed Jul-20-11 04:24 PM by liberalmuse
She is really disappointed in Obama and told me she wasn't going to vote in the next Presidential election. I told her Obama is the best 'electable' person we've got right now, and I was thinking about Kucinich when I said that. :( He was my first choice - heck, since 2002, for both '04 & '08. That being said, I understand the disillusionment with President Obama right now - but I really don't know that anyone else on our side could do better, unless they were a Truman or even a Bush - someone who either kicked butt to get stuff done, or who just assumed the Presidency was a dictatorship. I dunno anymore...

Oh, but as usual, I've totally gone off track from the original OP. You are absolutely right, but hell, when has anything logical ever been embraced by at least half of the American populace? I'm an atheist, but if there were a God, I'd hope he's telling all these asshats to run to narrow the chances that a Republican will get the office in 2012.

13. I've seen an UFO. Don't know what it was, so it's unidentified.
It seemed to be flying, at least moving all over the sky. Oh wait -- I can't really testify that it was an object. Oops, I've seen an UFS: an unidentified flying something. ;-)

you don't have good viewing; you aren't very observant or you're very young.

20. Normally when someone hears voices we try to get them help.
When the voices tell you what to do, that's no so much of a problem. Its when you begin to obey them that times get tough.

25. As a sailor and a private pilot, I've seen lots of UFO's.
Anyone looking into a night sky without any visual references will see them if they look. Of course, they are not aliens, they are just tricks due to lack of any surrounding perspective.

If someone says they saw a UFO, no issue.

If someone says they saw a UFO and then said he felt a connection in his heart and heard directions in his mind, then I'd call him insane. Of course, we only have the crazy Shirley MacLaine word of his reaction.

Hearing voices from any gods is equally nuts.

28. If you are hearing voices in your head, you are likely suffering
from a schizoid disorder and are mentally ill. If you believe and act on what those voices are telling you, you are definitely schizoid, seriously mentally ill, and should be locked up in a safe place with high fences, soft walls and given horse-sized shots of Thorazine on a regular basis.

Fundamentalist religion is a form of psychosis.
