Obama is doing it again. He's got their numbers.
Gang of Six deal is poisined by Obama, by VERY publicly smearing his coodies all over it. And on cue, all the Repubs hack and spit.

Obama said he praised it's tax increases, said it was like his own. It also contained things he would rather not give up. They balked. Further proof, that they are only out to ruin the pres. Who gives a fuck how much damage to the USA that requires. He has made that abundantly clear. And the public sees also. They will be hammered, by wall street, and beg Obama to just pay the bills. It will come to pass. If they need to allow a temp pass, to then give in, that too would work. They will fold like origami.

And on the plus side, their teafreak partners will be looking for blood.

1. And again, the public sees him as reasonable and willing to make a deal...
...and the Republicans as toadies in thrall to their base. Thus turning up the screws on the Reps yet again to either abandon the Tea Party, or abandon all moderates.

2. More importantly, he is seen to have preferrred a grand plan.
Now, the public, having been shown that repub intransigence blew up the grand deal, will insist, with ultimatums, that repubs shut their traps, and sign.

6. My money says that we get the increase, along with some vague minor spending cuts.
Just enough so that the Reps can say to the base that they did something, while still realizing they can't let the US default.

7. Hopefully, the clean bill
it should have been in the first place. The Dems in the House won't vote for the gang of six bill and neither will the tp's. But the Dems and many repubs will just give up and vote for a clean bill just to get it over and done with.
