1. Very nice! Have been hearing of friends of FB friends to be wed there soon!
The parks on the Canadian side along the Niagara Gorge are particularly nice.

Congratulations to all Lovers!

4. 15 years ago this week, MrG and I were spending our honeymoon here...
May all of the couples wed today be as happy as we were. Also, one of them gets in free (!) to all the attractions!

6. Regarding the rainbow lights ...
Same-sex couple wastes no time in saying 'I do'

SNIP

"By the power vested in me by the laws of the State of New York, I now pronounce you legally married," said Niagara Falls Mayor Paul Dyster, who performed the ceremony, with the Bridal Veil Falls thundering behind him.

SNIP

As a wedding present to the couple, (Mayor) Dyster personally paid for the falls to be lit the colors of the rainbow past midnight, and presented them with a frame photograph of the falls lit up with that color.

11. Our favorite place to visit
My wife and I go to the falls a couple times a year. It's a beautiful place to be any time of the year. We even spent Christmas there in '07.

12. God bless capitalism!
I heard some local chamber of commerce guy from Niagara Falls this morning saying that gay marriage is going to be a boon for business there.

Now, I bet $50 that this guy is a rock-solid Republican, but the prospect of reviving Niagara Falls as a marriage destination just over-rides most people's disapproval or religious leanings. Are there holdouts? Sure - they interviewed one person who was happy the new law didn't force people to perform the marriages, but the majority just looked and said to themselves: "profits? or my conservative values? Profits? Conservatism? Yay profits!!"

Personally, even as a marriage-jaundiced soul in a 20-year non-married hetero relationship, I just say:
"Yay love!"
