12. I was just at a town hall meeting with Sensenbrenner.
He said a deal will get done, that Congress only passes stuff when under pressure of a deadline and the deadline is a week from Tuesday.

He also assured people that their Social Security checks would go out, since there is plenty of money coming in to handle the key things like the interest on the debt, the military and SS. He said cuts would come from other stuff.

(Like I believe him.) :eyes:

13. I met a social security attorney who works for the fed govt
in Madison and she said the same thing about ss checks- that they will go out no matter what. And she said that there will be inconveniences for some people but that basic things that people are depending on will be taken care of. She said there could be post office glitches, but mail will be delivered. She was working for them when this happened during the Clinton era, which I didn't even remember.
