Rick Perry is going to be the Repuke 2012 nominee
Just so you all know....

As soon as he jumps in he's pretty much got it in the bag. He's a good x'tian, he's the right color, Chamber of Commerce sucks his balls, he's male and not much political baggage for the sheeple. Establishment and teabagger friendly...

Only question is if he jumps in before or after August 13th. You shouldn't need that date explained to you being a poster on a political message board on the intertubes :) There are pro's either way but I guess we'll see what the goodhair does.

Just get ready to see this mug 16 months and hopefully no more than that....

I think he's the only candidate that's got all the criteria for a republican candidate.

10. Nope
He wants to Texas to secede from the US. He is dead meat.

They are all dead meat because they actually get media attention. Like a light on cockroaches.
The republicans don't have anyone that will appeal to the mass of liberal voters.

...which it very well could, given the state now has 29 electoral votes, he'll have Gov. Rick Scott and the GOP Legislature to back him all the way. It is such a shame that the State Democratic Party in Florida is so impotent.

48. All of those negatives, and more, applied to mini-bush.
And you can add that his is much dumber than bush even. He was hand-picked as gov-lite by karl because next to perry, even bush looked bright.

But it is good to know that you have such a high opinion of the voters. I'm less charitable.

We will get the president that those who decide these things want us to get. News will be manipulated. Events will be staged. If they want Obama back in office again (why not from their standpoint) his opponent will be someone just as disgusting as the corpse and the tart Obama ran against last time. If they want him out, the republican candidate will be a bland white man. Past experience and behavior won't matter. Advertising will.

Lovely. Perry will have the voting machines, that's for sure. Those bastards

Obama does an ok job and has started a new war or two--but Perry will have the
cajones to take on Iran and anything else the neocons want.

Oh joy.

Buckle up everyone. The neocons ushered Bush into power. They rule the world, and
if one of their guys is running--they'll make it happen.

However I still think we should try to elect a sincere person that represents the public even if neither of the two major party candidates do as a result of the massive amount of money they're required to collect from the corporations.

We need to stop choosing between corporate candidate A or B.

19. Absolutely, I agree
He will be the nominee for sure.

I am in Iowa and our governor returned from a national governor conference and he said that
Perry is definitely running.

Perry is not participating in the Iowa straw poll, but if you think about it--he's got a
clever strategy. The current field of Republican candidates is nuttier than squirrel poop.
He's letting them shoot their mouths off and destroy their own candidacies. Michelle Bachman
and Romney are tied for first place in Iowa, thus far. A few more speeches from Bachman, and
Iowa Republicans will have cognitive dissonance and begin looking for another candidate. Romney
is a mormon. I'm sorry, but that's just not going to fly in the Republican party.

Perry is their man. He will emerge from the squirrel poop as the savior of the Republican
party.

After that, anything could happen--given the current political climate.

28. That's the problem with the crazies though...
All it takes is some marketing, a few scary slogans "Vote for me unless you want Al Queda
to show up on your front porch" and some pretty speeches--and they'll vote for it.

Bush Junior was totally rebranded. He was an idiot, drunk-driving business failure who
traded Sammy Sosa. They propped him up and positioned him as a God-fearin' Texas boy
that you'd love to have a beer with.

And look what happened--that was enough for the crazies. Perry is more than enough for
those fools. He'll have them eating out of his hand, after he's hired a PR firm and
a few New York ad firms. Maybe he'll ask Bachman to be his veep.

Would love to listen in on that conversation between two people on his team-

B- You know she's nuttier than Palin--

A- But she'll get us 100% of the teabagger vote--

B- Yeah, but she's got those issues with her fundie rehab center and government handouts--

A- We can spin the Fundie center, just keep her husband out of the limelight--

B- And the handouts--

A- The teabaggers don't care so why should we--

B- But she's still a fucking nut, can we control her mouth?--

A- She can be bought--

B- Okay, lets think about it some more, I'm still not convinced it's a good idea, we don't want McCain/Failin 2

A- deal... so, the morman's out right?

84. Wow...
I'm going to call you "fly on the wall" from now on--because that conversation
you wrote sounds plausible, from the conservanuts.

You're right about MB securing the tea bagger vote. Also, she's more controllable
than Palin. Palin is a raging narcissistic egomaniac. She's stupid, but she has
no idea that she's stupid. Bachman, on the other hand, is easily controlled. She
has no problem falling in line with marching orders, especially from men. She's
often stated that women need to obey their men, and she said the only reason she
went to law school and became a tax attorney--is because her husband commanded her
to do it.

She would be a lovely puppet for them. She's a total ditz, and she would have no
problem being their "go-to girl" who gives speeches, but has very little power and
is not in on the big stuff.

I can totally see it.

They've contributed large amounts to his past campaigns, and just invited him to walk the runway for them and their billionaire pals at a private summit in Vail.

Perry has a proven fund raising track record on the state level. He has raised over $100 million total during his gubernatorial campaigns.

The money will get behind him because he is a big business Republican at heart, but he can speak the Jesus code to the fundies (without being a glittery-eyed nutbag about religion like Bachmann).

81. I live in Texas and have heard the gay rumor
Not that there's anything wrong with that...except the hypocrisy of course!
Wonder how long it will be before Goodhair is pushed out of the closet...
Stay tuned!

73. Right Bush, wrong year
Jeb will run in 2016 because then he will not be running against an incumbent, and he will look pretty good compared to the whacked-out teabagger candidates.

66. I keep thinking they are going to nominate General Petreaus....
Petreaus.. our new CIA Director and lover of all things war.

They will resurrect the ghost of Ike... bring back the "I Like Ike" buttons.

The repukes will lap it up and we will oficially become a military dictatorship.

--------------------------------

Some news reports have speculated that Petraeus may have interest in running for the presidency, especially after he visited a school known for hosting the presidential debates, New Hampshire's Saint Anselm College. Petraeus lives in New Hampshire.<7> Despite these accounts, Petraeus has categorically asserted that he has no political ambitions.<8><9><10><11> On June 23, 2010, President Barack Obama nominated Petraeus to succeed General Stanley McChrystal as commanding general of the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan, technically a step down from his position as Commander of United States Central Command, which oversees the military efforts in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Central Asia, the Arabian Peninsula, and Egypt.<12><13><14>

74. Glad someone had the guts to ask. I don't know, either.
Only thing that occurred to me was that it was a typo for August 3, referring to the possible date of default on government bonds because of the debt ceiling extortion by the GOP.
