Pretty much says it all. From The Atlantic: http://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2011/07/the-chart-that-should-accompany-all-discussions-of-the-debt-ceiling/242484/

Bush spending vs Obama (New programs added, not continuing former policies)

Single. Largest. Cost. Item.

2. I think Boner's office should be flooded
with copies of this. Seriously. He needs to see that people are paying attention. All of our focus seems to be on contacting our Democratic representatives. Maybe it's time to show the other side something other than the glowing support they seem to be getting.

3. Good point, but how? Fax?
Their online forms don't accept attachments and you know staff isn't going to blindly follow links.

4. Fax might work.
Mail a letter today might get there tomorrow. I doubt this is going to be resolved within the next few days.

Also phone calls. I think they do keep tallies of how the phone calls are going so if you live in a Republican district it would be worth the effort to call and voice disapproval.

If the polls are correct and 80% believe that the rich should pay a bit more in taxes, that info isn't getting to the Republican representatives. I wouldn't be surprised if the majority of the people who are calling their offices are teabaggers. They need to hear from their other constituents. The ones that aren't crazy.
