Well folks get them belts on
1.- Downgrades are coming.

2.- Default is coming.

3.- It will not be nice.

No I don't claim to see into the future, but that is what happened tonight. We are at an impasse of historic proportions. Yes it is about the social contract.

And to those who do not believe there are cycles in history... go pick up a copy of the Fourth Turning. As hokey as it is at times... this is one of those cycles...

By the way, this is the Dysfunctional congress BEFORE the civil war...

Yes, it is one of those moments.

Oh and yes, it may go hot and I do not say this lightly. Nor am I looking forwards to it. But all you know, is probably over unless these guys (and gals) wake up and smell the fracking coffee.

1. Yep, I'm seeing what bills/credit cards I can pay off, making sure
I got enough food (dried, canned, whatever) and can lay low. Period.

take care of this in the next hour. It's a manufactured crisis and if it comes to a head we really can't let them get away with it this time.

9. It is when a manufactured crisis
becomes real... that is the problem. I have seen this... in effect... the hostage takers have killed a hostage. When that happens you send SWAT in... your hostages are dead anyway. Sorry to put it this crass.

8. I rely on SSDI. So should I not expect a check on the 13th? I have a small savings. Can last a
few months,but no longer. :shrug:

pile of crap. I think I'm going to withdraw the little money I have that I don't use for bills from the bank. I have stocked up on some food already, the buy one get one free stuff. Always with the Mayo though. Better get more bread.

14. I agree. Sometimes I think you are a Chicken Little but tonight I agree.
One of my clients is a major hedge fund operator. Friends of the Clintons they are so powerfully positioned. They've already been informed that there will be a default and to prepare accordingly.

The upper echelon has already been informed! They are already taking steps to preserve THEIR positions. The rest of us are left to wonder (well, not on DU but elsewhere in the US)

Obama and Boehner went on teevee tonight solely to bolster their respective positions post-fall out next week. I also am truly cynical that this will be worked out.
