Norway responds to Glenn Beck when asked by a reporter
Beck said that the Labour party youth camp on the island, where 68 people were murdered, bore "disturbing" similarities to the Nazi party's notorious juvenile wing.

Beck, a multimillionaire darling of the Tea Party movement, said on his nationally-syndicated radio show: "There was a shooting at a political camp, which sounds a little like, you know, the Hitler youth. I mean, who does a camp for kids that's all about politics? Disturbing."

Torbjørn Eriksen, a former press secretary to Jens Stoltenberg, Norway's prime minister, described the comment as "a new low" for the broadcaster, who has frequently been forced to apologise for offensive remarks.

"Young political activists have gathered at Utoya for over 60 years to learn about and be part of democracy, the very opposite of what the Hitler Youth was about," he told The Daily Telegraph. "Glenn Beck's comments are ignorant, incorrect and extremely hurtful."

16. Beck has his own Project 912 Hitler Youth camp right in Tampa.
Tampa Liberty School - a summer camp for kids aged 8-12 years old

The Tampa 912 Project is pleased to introduce the Tampa Liberty School. This part-time summer camp will meet from 9am to noon on July 11-15 at the Paideia School in Temple Terrace. Kids aged 8-12 years old will have fun while learning the principles of liberty, free markets, and limited government. They will also learn the values of personal responsibility, faith, courage, hard work, reverence and thrift.

23. I think they should extradite him and put him in the stocks for people to throw rotten food at.

I'm pretty sure they could charge him for "inciting terrorism" and the US would have to comply with the extradition because its part of the "global war on terra".

I mean what fun is having a king if you can't have public shaming as corporal punishment.

5. Perhaps he should attack this camp also
http://www.facepunch.com/threads/1098113-Tea-Party-group-starts-summer-camp-in-tampa-florida

Think summer camp and most people tend to envision mobs of kids swimming in lakes, rowing canoes, or weaving friendship bracelets and singing campfire songs. But conservative activists in Florida have come up with a novel idea for a summer camp this year: Camp Tea Party. In what sounds eerily like indoctrination camp, a few Tampa kids will be spending part of their summer learning about the evils of European socialism and the Christian roots of the Constitution at the "Tampa Liberty School," a summer camp created by conservative activists from a Tampa 9/12 group. Their camp cheers will include such mottoes as "government can't force me to be charitable" and "I believe in God."

The camp is a hybrid of vacation Bible school and Glenn Beck. The organizers modeled the camp after one started in Kentucky last year that seems to have taken much of its curriculum straight from Beck's favorite writer, the late W. Cleon Skousen, author of some dubious and occasionally racist histories of the nation and the bestselling 5,000 Year Leap. In the Kentucky camp, kids learned, among other things, that the early American settlers starved to death because they were communists, a piece of Skousen dogma.

The camps are the brainchild of members of groups that sprung up a few years ago at the urging of Beck, who launched what he called the 9/12 project, symbolizing the day after the 9/11 attacks when the country put partisan differences aside and came together. Beck came up with nine principles and 12 values as the basis for the organization. The 9/12 groups have been associated with the tea party movement, but they also tend to have more religious undertones than their tea party compatriots. Many of their members are Mormons, like Beck and Skousen. Still, they are supportive of the tea party's new focus on the next generation.

The Florida activists are not alone in trying to foist their agenda on America's youth. Organizers of the Tea Party Patriots organization have recently urged activists to lobby public schools to teach the Constitution using materials created by a group Skousen founded. The Tampa Liberty School founders say they hope to expand their summer camp offering into local public schools as well, according to the St. Petersburg Times. "We've had classes for adults," Karen Jaroch, who chairs the Tampa 912 Project, told the paper. "Now we want to introduce a younger generation to economics and history, but in a fun way."

6. US broadcaster's comparison of political activities on island of Utøya with Nazi party camp condemne
as 'a new low'.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2011/jul/26/glenn-beck-norwegian-dead-hitler

Glenn Beck, the rightwing US broadcaster and Tea Party favourite, has compared those who were massacred on the Norwegian island of Utøya to the Nazi party's youth wing.

A campaign to pressure advertisers to boycott the pundit's daily slot had been gathering pace, while Beck was embroiled in battles erupting from his frequently aired conspiracy theories involving individuals ranging from the financier George Soros to Barack Obama.

However, his latest comments about the "disturbing" nature of political youth camps may come as a surprise to Beck's followers in the Tea Party movement.

The anti-tax, anti-immigration movement has been holding summer camps in states including Florida and Missouri where children have been taught a curriculum based on God, the US constitution and "the defence of economic liberty".

10. More Norwegian responses

This isnt available in English yet. i'll translate.

http://www.dagbladet.no/2011/07/25/nyheter/utenriks/usa... /

US media is filled with material on the terrorist attacks in Norway. The conservative and controversial commentator Glenn Beck used his national radio show to compare the Labour Youth with Hitlers nazi youth, Hitlerjugend.

(You know the beck quotes)

- Political scientist and Labour Party member Frank Aarebrot is upset when he hears Becks statements.

- He is a fascist. Only a fascist would say something like that. The man is swine, Aarebrot says of the commentator who until recently had a very popular talkshow on the large newschannel Fox News, and is often seen to be an opinionmaker in conservative republican circles.

- Beck is a vulgar propagandist who is trying to surpass Joseph Goebbels, Aarebrot says.
- The AUF is a free and democratic youth organization like any other.

He thinks Bevks statements is a frightening example of how American voters are misled.

It is frightening that there are people who are doing these kinds of awful fairytale stories. The worst is that some will believe this is objective reporting.

The political scientist says the claims are so upsetting that the Norwegian embassy in Washington D.C. should send out a press release stating what kind of organization the AUF is.

- Even if it is not common practice, they should do it in this situation.

35. Beck's comment is offensive
on so many different levels, it's difficult to know where to start. The bodies of these children are barely cold, and Beck is already trying to use them to score some kind of pathetic point.

Norway was invaded and occupied by actual Nazis. Years ago, when I was in Oslo, I visited the Norwegian Resistance Museum. It was the Norwegians who gave us the word "quisling" to describe a traitor willing to sell out his own people in the interests of a depraved ideology.

How about we start calling pathetic, heartless provocateurs "becks?"

I hope Norwegians and all the world join in ending Beck's era on the media. Next, Limbaugh.

It's nteresting - that none of the media called the Norway attack(s) a massacre of liberals. That's what it was.
