Boehner & the GOP don't care about default or the USA.
This much was obvious in his lie-filled retort to the president last night. On the one hand, President Obama comes out and tells it like it is and graciously paves the way for Mr. Boehner and his ilk to come to a compromise. Then enters Boehner, Mr. orange faced cry baby comes out lying and swinging and scorns those he claims are aiming a campaign for re-election, all the while doing so himself, mud-slinging and damned any truth....who cares that his actions & the GOP damned this country beyond what it has already suffered after 8 years of BushCo...

Damn you, Boehner! Damn the uncompromising idiocy of the teabaggers that support something that will cause them greater pain than they already complain about. Teabaggers are masochists, one would have to be to support something that will utterly destroy this country and its citizens.

The GOP is good at two things, lying and gutting everything that's set up as a protection of this nation and we, the people.

1. The GOP's one and only goal since Obama took office
has been to destroy him. I really expected attempts on Obama's life, but they've settled instead for constant slander, harrassment and stonewalling. Any Democratic president would have been subjected to this, but the fact that Obama is black sent the TeaKKKLanner's rage into the stratosphere (you should hear how my racist, redneck relatives talk about our president--they sneer and smirk and curl their lips as if they're fantasizing of getting a rope . . .).

Obama's urging to contact our Reps sounds good, but our Reps DO NOT GIVE A DAMN WHAT WE THINK. They are owned and operated by the megarich. They know that, come next election, they can bleat about gay marriage and abortion and creationism and evil lib'rels, and the mouth breathers will emerge from their caves and dutifully vote 'em back into office.

It is time, I believe, for this country to break in two. It no longer functions, it no longer works. We have two distinct populations: one wants to live in the 21st century, the other wants to live in the 12th century. We should let them go. They can have the hot, dry parts (seeing how obsessed they are with the concept of "Hell"). We can move forward, free of the anchors of fundamentalism, xenophobia, proud and stubborn ignorance. I'm not sure where we'd draw the physical boundaries, but the idea seems more and more logical as the great experiment of the United States fractures irrevocably.

5. They care about a pre-New Deal America. Everything
since has been a perversion, for them.

Obama represents both an opportunity and a threat to their long-standing, expressly stated goals to dismantle America's most successful, wildly popular social safety net programs.

As an 'exotic' democratic president, he represents an easier target to smear, lie about, de-legitimize. They can use the power of low politics, corporate fundraising, and media complicity to turn a significant portion of the public into rabid haters. They can talk about how he is destroying america. They 'want their country back.' They have plainly said that these things wouldn't be achievable with a gop congress and president...too much blowback. But with a democratic president and with the fallout of a huge economic downturn they have an opportunity. That Obama turned out to be a consensus-building constitutionalist has been a blessing for the gop.

As a charismatic, pragmatist progressive with vision Obama represents a THREAT to the goals of Prescott Bush, Reagan, and Limbaugh. As stated by Rush: "Roosevelt is DEAD. His policies live on but we're in the process of doing something about that too." A president who, as a relatively unknown candidate, can take the country by storm and inspire hope, music videos, and record crowds at rallies has a lot of power (if he chooses to wield it) to sidetrack the gops 75-year campaign against Roosevelt. That he's extra smart and can solve problems is doubly worrying. He's the anti-Bush. He is an immediate threat and this is why McConnell's top priority is his virtual destruction. It's not that the gop doesn't care about america, it's that the America we have isn't the one they want and Obama is in the way.
