http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/07/25/us-usa-afghanistan-contracts-idUSTRE76O6DF20110725

6 Billion a month spent in Afghanistan on war. 2.16 Billion ends up in the hands of the Taliban. Funding your enemies? Priceless.

And we are discussing cutting Social Security and Medicare, which have nothing to do with the deficit, but quietly authorize $600 billion in war spending with bipartisan support, yet now can't figure out how to raise the debt ceiling?

:wtf:

Has everyone in Washington gone insane? We are fucking funding our own enemies, yet are talking about cutting grandma's social security check to pay for it?

1. Keeping the enemy alive
So we can keep feeding the war machine.

Still the American people are not outraged.

5. I don't know why not
It's so in your face that we are destroying our own damn economy with this crap.

11. Because of the your with us or against us rhetoric from 2003 time
Remember when they turned the outrage against the war back on us?

That is why the American people are not outraged, they don't want to be labeled as unpatriotic.

2. It's important that we keep the military industrial complex humming along, jobs and all, don't you
know. The industry's existence can only be justified with potent enemies to fight. The taliban would probably be close to impotent without our tax dollars to support them. It's a jobs/economic issue, right?

3. Oh like that was an accident.
It was the way this war should have been fought to begin with. Just pay them the "be our friend" money and be done with it.

4. Why would they want to stop fighting with us
If we are paying them on the one hand to not fight us, and then they can turn around and fund the people that ARE fighting?

My God. The insanity astounds me.

13. Because we shouldn't actually be fighting them.
Someone has to be in power there.
It'll be one group or another. No matter who it is, they'll be corrupt and probably hate us.
Bribing them so they crack down on Al Q. or other faction plotting to fuck shit up (pardon my language) is a more effective tool and far less costly.

If it were me, I'd have taken over that country and made it the 51st state.
Bribing them to go savage on their terrorists is the next best option.

Just my opinion. I'm just another rogue in the underground.

8. That's exactly what it is
We are being fleeced by defense contractors. Their "due" bill for August is something like $32 billion - just for defense contractors. That's more than Medicare! That's not even total military expenditures like VA benefits and military pay. No - that's just to the damn contractors that are letting money get into enemy hands!

10. Please do!
This is pure insanity. I'm sending it to mine, as well. I want to know how they can talk about slashing spending on the least of us, when they are funding our OWN DAMN ENEMIES. It's asinine.

14. I've suspected for years that the Taliban and our supposed Afghan "allies"
Are performing kabuki theater as each side squeezes the Pentagon for more cash
