Tea Party Economics 101
Edited on Tue Jul-26-11 11:19 AM by LuckyTheDog
Tea Party economics comes down to five main points:

-- A dollar spent by the government just goes "poof" and disappears.

-- A dollar spent by the government cannot be used to by government contractors to pay their bills.

-- Money paid to government employees and cannot be used to buy goods and services in the rest of the economy.

-- Thus, government-spend dollars lack the the multiplier effect created by "good" private sector dollars.

-- Therefore, cutting government spending creates jobs. The more you cut, the more jobs you create.

Do I have that about right?

1. It all boils down to DERP
They are dumb people who think they know everything. We've all met them in life. Now they're running the country.

3. It's worse than that
The Tea Party is the political movement equivalent of an alcoholic who suddenly decides to go cold turkey, sell his car and his house, and move cross country just to "make a change."

They are looking for a quick-fix spasm of dramatic action that will suddenly change everything without any need for introspection, planning or even any attempt to think things through.

That is a potentially very destructive way to make policy.

2. Heh, what a second, I think you are onto something here.
We apply their logic and tell them that cutting the military will result in more wars against furiners and brown people and secret muslims.

I'm always amused by the people who say gov't spending doesn't/can't create jobs.

One of them is my uncle who is now retired after a 30-year career at (ready for this?) a defense contractor.

I don't get these people. At all.

EDIT: spelling ("not" and "now...big difference!) :)
