The people of this country are pleading for your help
My attempted letter to my Congressman. Unfortunately, after finally getting through to write it, the site '404' errored me right out.

Dear Rep. Owens,

Please take the time to consider the outcry that is being put forth from the majority of the American people. We are becoming very disillusioned with our government which continues to seem to have little concern for the average person (and by person, I mean human being and not corporate entity with deep pockets). The fiasco surrounding the debt ceiling and attempts to reduce services such as Medicare and Social Security are particularly disheartening. How can the government of this nation continue to try to put more on the working class people without asking more from the wealthiest? From each according to his ability, to each according to his need. I know I've heard that somewhere. How much more do the rich need from us? All of it? This is no joke. Has the government spectrum truly moved so much to the right? It seems we are on our epic Roman decline, and if it is to happen, should we not go the route most humane? Have the rich truly developed such influence that the need to even pretend to care about the people is lost? Stop taking money from social security, stop taking from those that have the least. Cut military spending (and I say this as a previous military dependent and 5 year military veteran honorably discharged), raise taxes on the wealthiest people in the country. The only thing trickling down is the burden from the federal level, down to the states, counties, and local governments. Shared sacrifice my ass! We are at a breaking point. How many more people need to die poverty stricken because they couldn't pay their medical bills or afford proper medical care (and by that I mean medical care, not health insurance)? Shame.

What is the purpose of our government if not to provide services for the people? The root of the police power of our nation is to provide for the safety, health, and welfare of its people. Unfortunately, it appears to be more of a wave and, "sorry, you are on your own". I understand the premise of compromise, but when is enough enough? What do we stand for? When do we fight the good fight? The people need your help, even the ones too propagandized to know it. Help us. Are the American people not 'too big to fail'? Thank you for your time.
