"Absentee voting starts in (WI) Senate recall":
http://lacrossetribune.com/news/local/article_c32ac4b0-b73a-11e0-9a10-001cc4c03286.html

In-person absentee voting for the Aug. 9 state Senate recall elections got off to a busy start Monday.

In the city of La Crosse, 94 people had voted by 4:30 p.m.

"This is a busy first day," said La Crosse Deputy Clerk Nikki Elsen, who noted changes brought by the state's new voter ID bill shortened the absentee voting period to two weeks and implemented a uniform start date.

Onalaska recorded 55 over-the-counter votes, in addition to mailing out 326 ballots.

I voted at the La Crosse city clerk's office at 9:30 and there were already a half dozen people voting. I think the turnout is going to be very good here and I hope that Democrats and those who want to see Kapanke gone are more motivated to vote than those who want to keep him.

I voted with my goddaughter and we were both asked for our IDs and we both said "no".

1. I hope there was a massive informational campaign out there to make sure voters know about the
tactics regarding voter id and that everyone knows they don't have to show ID and they are not fooled.

2. There was an article in the La Crosse Tribune that explained how they didn't have to show an ID now,
but that they asked to get ready for next year. When I voted at the city clerk's office they were very nice about it.
