I let my repub Congressman know how angry all my neighbors are, regardless of party. I let him know that SS and Medicare are not "entitlements," to be dismissed disrespectfully, like handouts. We have paid into and earned those things. I told him to stop posturing and acting like a junior high kid, or a small-minded thug.

I got a call back from one of Durbin's aides, acknowledging my call. They keep assuring me that there will be no "cuts" to SS and Medicare. I need to hear more than that!

I will call, and keep calling.

In fact, ALL Florida congresspeople are hopeless. I include "Democrat" Nelson in that mix. I got in an email fight with him just a few days ago. If you cannot count on a DEMOCRAT, how the hell are you going to reason with a Republican? Personally, I think the SOUTH is hopeless. My vote? Get the hell out of the South.

Called my Congressman's office (Chabot R-OH) and Senator Portman (R-OH) and Brown (D-OH) today. All three offices were courteous and professional and I was not confrontational. I just advised the Republican offices that if there is a default it is the Republican's fault and that until the Bush tax cuts are eliminated I do not give any credibility to anything a Republican says on fiscal matters. Also I said that we have a revenue and a spending problem not just a spending problem.

You might get a form letter reply if you are lucky.
