Something I never realized. Casablanca. I always just thought of it as a movie.

A gues on Hardball just said it means White House! Obviously I'm not anhispanic, and I only know a few words in spanish, but i do know the words casa and blanc. I wonder if the references I've heard in the media about Obama and references to casablanca do have the racial tones I'm thinking about now?

Now I feel stupid that I didn't realize this before now.

7. The structure is 500 years old. What we call "white" paint is a relatively recent invention.

The original wall paint in my house is Navajo White, which was popular in the early 1960s when the place was built. It's nowhere near as white as ceiling white, or even drywall primer/sealer.

(If you have a different etymology for the name of the city, please present it.)

6. The latino guest on Hardball said the radical Pubs son't want a black man in the White House,

and their reference to casablanca have that meaning. I don't know it that's true or not, bt I think it does.
