1. I think they will pass "something" at the last minute.

Lawrence O'Donnell explained it very well last night. It's a one-paper bill that only calls for raising the debt limit and sidelines all the other issues.

2. Not sure. I'm sure Obama has plans in place for each
possibility, but who knows if he's willing to say NO or not?

With a default breathing down his neck, that's an AWFUL lot of pressure!

3. I don't see that anything that passes the House will get 60 votes in the Senate.
And vice versa.

I do think the repubs will fold if pushed past the brink. Polls favor Obama's preferred approach with increased revenue. In their heart of hearts repubs know they will get the lion's share of the blame for a default. (McCain's right about something finally.)

The real question is whether Obama is willing to risk the damage to the economy it would take to push the repubs that far.

4. We need a New Deal.
Or at least not a repeal of the old New Deal.

(But I said 25%.)

6. It's in the hands of the people that are trusted the least.
We will just have to wait & see.

7. No there will not be a deal because the Republicans don't
want there to be a deal. What are the Republicans doing today to bring about a resolution to this issue. Right now they are giving speeches on the floor of the house about passing a bill today of which it is a forgone conclusion is DOA in the Senate. In other words they are engaged in political grandstanding and burning up time.

People need to get their head around the fact that these Teabagger freaks in Congress want the American government to collapse and fail. They have said so time and time again. This is the Grover Norquist doctrine of drowning the government in the bathtub and they are bringing it about right before our eyes.

8. They'll pass something at the last possible moment
in the middle of the night, and nobody will know what's in it for two weeks until the spin is ready. Then we'll find out how bad they screwed us.

9. I'd say 100%. I'll even go out on a limb and say it will be announced tomorrow (Friday).
Friday, dump day.

10. This story has been too big for too long to be hidden
in the Friday news dump regardless of how much each party would want to.

I foresee it happening late Aug 1st or early Aug 2nd. Nobody will get what they "want" so it has to be held off until the last possible second so the politicians can go back and say they fought as long as they possibly could.
