The lesson of the Obama Administration so far is the more he says 'compromise'
Edited on Fri Jul-29-11 11:50 AM by WI_DEM
the more they oppose and fight him. The more he moves towards their position the more they move to the right. I've come to believe that the reason is they don't believe this president has any core beliefs that he will stand up and fight for. In effect, they believe they can get pretty much what they want--and what they want more than anything is to ruin the economy to help make Obama a one-term president.

1. He is hurting himself. Let the Republicans offer something instead
of Obama always looking ready to acquiesce. No matter
what he plans to do, do not mention entitlements again.

He is driving Independents and Seniors away.

2. What they really want is to rewrite the Constitution.

6. Well I see it a different way.
They, unlike the people here at DU, don't believe he's really going to cut anything, that's why they won't agree. They've been bamboozled before when they found out the so called "cuts" weren't the type of "cuts" they were really talking about.

3. "Throughout he exhibited a preternatural calm, always seeking some common ground..."
"...as if compromise was a goal in and of itself..."

Keep in mind this article was posted in GDP as support for his political strategy. And they think we criticize because we never understood what Obama is all about. No, we understood fine. We just know that it is what made him absolutely wrong for this job at this moment in time, from the very beginning.

But rest assured that whatever happens to SS and Medicare he'll come off as the "adult" in this situation.

4. And he gives up the high ground and momentum that swept Dems into office in '08
Why compromise with a party that was thoroughly repudiated?

The GOP had time to catch their breath and use a complicit media to male their minority seem like some sort of movement. Now we end up with these tea baggers.

5. they used his strength against him
As I have written elsewhere.

From the ancient "Art of War" they took his greatest strength (compromise) and attacked him on it.

"No compromise." "Compromise is a dirty word."

Just like they attacked John Kerry on his military record.

It's a variation of "Run toward the bullet."

Attack your opponent on his strength.
