Both capable of handling Hoover and Kibbe.

a few weeks ago on the BIO channel and he was set up by Repuke thugs who were out to get even for the things he did to them while he was Governor. He made a LOT of enemies and they made him pay. :( If you get a chance to watch it, you should! Client 9: The Rise and Fall of Eliot Spitzer

30. Are you suggesting he didn't really hire a hooker and transport her across state lines...
for the purpose of prostitution, which is of course VERY federally illegal?

Wanna solve this tricky criminal scandal deal with our politicians? Elect women. They know how to keep their eye on the ball (no, not THAT ball) and their panties tied up tight. They also seem to be braver at bucking the system and the old guard. Maybe because they had to do that to get where they are, in the first place?

They just do it better and smarter.

51. Ah, but the gals the famous men are cheating with are NOT in power positions.
Take Schwarzenegger as an example. Most or all of his trysts have been with women in LOWER positions than him. Spitzer's issue was with a prostitute. So was Vitter's. Ensign's paramour was one of his staffers. So was Edwards'.

54. AND they got caught.
My reaction was a big fat who cares (except with Ahnold who seemed to have a perchance for forcing himself on others).

My point is that there are women in power who I KNOW are getting theirs, but they are not being dumb-asses about it because they KNOW that they will be BBQ'd alive if they are caught. Spitzer and Edwards acted like they didn't expect anyone to find out. Kinda dumb.

50. Because they have to be BETTER than men to get to plumb jobs?
Just a guess. They never would've made it that far, if they were misbehaving and causing trouble.

Also, maybe women just are less likely to get carried away with attraction to young studs that a power position can bring?

Or...is it that they have fewer offers?

Dunno. It just is. They are more available to do their JOBS.

52. Check out documentary "Client 9" on DVD and on BluRay now...
Edited on Sat Jul-30-11 07:44 PM by cascadiance
The same filmmaker that won the Oscar for "Taxi to the Dark Side" earlier put together this great documentary that really shows how the PTB behind the scenes are using the media and our government to selectively go after people and gives you more the inside story about how he fell. Watched it last weekend. Definitely recommend it here.

Really explained well how FBI investigations that were done suspiciously on this one escort service had VERY detailed information in its reports about "Client 9", and very minimal information about other "Clients". And that this information was selectively leaked so that the press would follow up and find out that it was Spitzer and expose him, without them having to officially go after "johns", which typically they normally don't do. In this case the target was a john.

The film made the point that when they contrasted it with the DC Madam and Vitter, that in that case the target was DC Madam and not folks like Vitter. Implied is that in both cases they were going after those that were the bigger threats to the PTB. Spitzer was more of a threat to them than his escort service. DC Madam (in putting the PTB's main tools in jeopardy) was more of a threat than the likes of Vitter in that case.

27. She never had a chance.
Ms. Palfrey said she would never kill herself.

The government confiscated her assets, preventing her from hiring bodyguards...as well as lawyers.

Even if she had to go to jail, Ms. Palfrey had a lot to live for:

$313,836.31 from one Charles Schwab Funds and Stock Investment accounts.
$36,458.67 in another fund account at Charles Schwab.
$61,793.59 from one Charles Schwab Funds and Stock Investment accounts.
$4,055.68 from one Wells Fargo Account.
$9,340.67 from one Wells Fargo Account.
413 South African Gold Krugerrands.
81 U.S. Liberty $50 Gold Coins.
320 U.S. Liberty $1 Silver Coins.
61 Canadian $50 Gold Coins.

Two pieces of property and/or homes in California:
Capitol Street Property valued at approximately $495,000.00.
Vaquero Glen Property valued at $480,000.00.

Then let’s not forget the computers and most importantly that “client list of whose who in Washington D.C.” , although referred to in the seizure warrant as; “phone contact book including appointment schedule, expandable folders in 5 colors with “profiles contained within”, and appointment books, binder of notes of men for Escort Service. All confiscated by the government to “hold” while the D. C. Madam was tried and convicted, and then the loot could be forfeited to the government, oh how sweet huh? Not to mention those entire customers name protected by the government so they would not be hurt, you have to love Uncle Sam, always taking care of its own.

45. Yes, Ma'am. Now we have a chief witness against Rupert the Powerful turning up dead. ''No problem.''
Yet, there is a problem.

EXCERPT...

Hoare named a private investigator who he said had links with the News of the World, adding: "He may want to talk now, because I think what you'll find now is a lot of people are going to want to cover their arse." Speaking to another Guardian journalist last week, Hoare repeatedly expressed the hope that the hacking scandal would lead to journalism in general being cleaned up, and said he had decided to blow the whistle on the activities of some of his former NoW colleagues with that aim in mind.

Then Rupert's youngish and beautifulish wife slapped down the (rightwing!) pie-thrower, and that was that.

The treasonous greedhead turdballs want it all in order to change America into the antebellum south of yore, a modern day feudal state in which the landed gentry of 1-percent own 99-percent of the wealth and the 99-percent of the populace fight over the 1-percent in crumbs falling off "their" table.

22. Actually Herbert Hoover
was a rather remarkable man, but he is only remembered for the Great Depression. He literally saved millions of lives in Europe during World War I and in Russia during the great famine. 'When asked if he was not thus helping Bolshevism, Hoover retorted, "Twenty million people are starving. Whatever their politics, they shall be fed!"' (Wikipedia)

I was surprised to read about his many extraordinary accomplishments prior to becoming president. Then as president he had started the "Reconstruction Finance Corporation" that became FDR's New Deal. He increased taxes on the wealthy and corporations. Ironically, HE was accused of "socialism".

He did a lot of what ended up being the right things to do for the economy, but was viewed as too little too late.

I don't think Margaret has a clue.

43. Well he certainly doesn't seem to fit the CNN mold
When I think of CNN, I don't generally think of smart independent thinkers. Most of their newscasters and commentators put me to sleep. It appears they've put all their energy and money into nifty high-tech graphics. Its like a parody of itself these days.

Maybe he'll show up at MSNBC or Current TV one of these days. He probably has some kind of contract obligations that prevent him from going to another station for a certain period of time, so its good that he makes guest appearances on shows like Real Time.

Oh well, I figure if you prosecute prostitution and sleep with prostitutes, you have to pay your dues. He is doing a good job of earning people's trust back though. I wonder if Anthony Weiner will be able to do the same.

47. Hoover's daughter said Obama doubled the national debt
I've heard that ridiculous historical revision several times from Republicans in the debt ceiling debates on the Senate and House floors. Isn't it true that Republican Presidents are responsible for 80% of the national debt? Adding up Reagan, Poppy Bush, and his chimpanzee son it totals more than $10 trillion due to Republican administrations. The lie that they are perpetuating is that the U.S. National Debt was zero when Clinton left office and Moron took over. Clinton didn't pay down the debt, he merely balanced the budget in the years of his Presidency. They are subtracting the $5 trillion Bush ran up from the $14 trillion of today and therefore alleging that Obama alone is responsible for that increase.

What kills me is that Elliot Spitzer didn't know the facts and couldn't argue against that right winger. Thom Hartmann is the only person in the media who seems to have a complete grasp of the facts.
