NPR Sneaks in the TRUTH: "We have a jobs crisis, not a debt crisis."
Edited on Sat Jul-30-11 09:25 AM by kpete
HEUVEL: What I think is we're witnessing a Washington out of touch with the real economy in this country. We have a jobs crisis, not a debt crisis. And what's so notable about the current plans on the table is how far removed they are from the opinions of most Americans. By overwhelming majorities, Robert, Americans want Social Security and Medicare and Medicaid protected. And the most popular opinions on deficit reduction are raising revenues, raising taxes on millionaires, billionaires.

So I think there's a sense of this country moving in the wrong direction, because this - Washington has been so out of touch. To me, that is the lesson of this past week and that every plan before Congress, and all of these dueling plans - you need a libretto, even political junkies, let alone ordinary Americans need a libretto to follow to follow this astonishingly reckless nightmare inside the Capitol.

1. I think many in this country have known this for so long that
the outrage over the millionaires meaness club in Washington is the last straw for many...

2. Heuvel stated the case perfectly, but the Neo-Con turd countered everything she said
with right wing speak and the "moderator" just sat there and let us "decide". People hear what they want to hear and, unfortunately, folks on the right don't want to listen to NPR. Her comments made me feel better but didn't accomplish much, I'm afraid. Sorry media we have.

3. If Pukes get to thinking they can use debt ceiling bomb threats it will be the end of the dollar.
Edited on Sat Jul-30-11 09:40 AM by kenny blankenship
All countries need to earn dollars because dollars are how you must pay for oil. Since you need to pay for oil in dollars you trade most other goods in dollars too. If the US dollar is under recurring threat of default, from the moment Democrats give Pukes a deal of some kind, any kind, to expand the debt ceiling, OPEC and the creditors of the United States are going to dump Dollar Hegemony sooner rather than later.

That means goodbye to our cushy world-subsidized lifestyles. Maybe you don't think we should have it so easy. But you are NOT going to like to the transition period and the New Normal of a moth eaten dollar, spurned by the rest of the world.

4. Yes! and the thing that should be on everyone's lips: 10 years of Bush Tax Cuts: Where are the jobs?
We are still suffering in a republican economy. And the best solution to the Bush recession still is: massive infrastructure spending. Not: let's concentrate the wealth some more!
